Species Globigerina concinna Reuss 1850

Discussion / Comments:
Rögl (1985):
G. concinna is similar to G. ciperoensis ciperoensis but differs in the chambers increasing in size slightly more rapidly, in a larger test size, 0.5-0.6 against 0.3-0.4 mm, and in a distinctly different stratigraphic range, Middle Miocene compared with Middle to Late Oligocene. Furthermore, G. concinna has a more open umbilical area, and its aperture is often slightly asymmetrical, similar to that in G. diplostoma. The names concinna or cf. concinna were originally used in Central America and the Caribbean area to name the similar Oligocene forms but were later separated by Bolli (1954) as G. ciperoensis ciperoensis.
