Species Globigerina regularis d'Orbigny 1846

Discussion / Comments:
Rögl (1985):
This very low trochospiral species with a depressed spire has a bi umbilicate, Hastigerina like appearance. The spinose, Globigerina like 4 chambers of the last whorl increase rapidly in size. The aperture is a low umbilical extraumbilical arch extending towards the periphery. The relationship of G. regularis to Globorotalia obesa is not clear but it is possible that the two may be synonyms. Similarities exist also with Hastigerina praesiphonifera, which has a similar range.
