Pyrula testâ ficiformi, tenuisculâ, spirâ brevissima obtusâ, anfractibus quator, ultimo maximo, decussatim striato, et carinato, carinis 11-12, distantibus, nonullis interstitialibus minùs elevatis.

Nielsen (2003):
Ficus distans wurde von Covacevich & Frassinetti (1980) hinreichend beschrieben und diskutiert. Er ist aus dem unteren bis mittleren Miozän von Peru bekannt (DeVries 1997b). Zeitgleich kommt in Peru F. allemanae DeVries, 1997 vor (mittleres Miozän bis unteres Pliozän, DeVries 1997b), der aus Chile nicht bekannt ist und eine Übergangsform von F. distans zu F. ventricosa (Sowerby, 1825) darstellen könnte. Ficus ventricosa ist seit dem oberen Pliozän als einzige Art von Ficus im Ostpazifik (Golf von Kalifornien bis Nordperu) vertreten. Ficus distans unterscheidet sich von den genannten Arten durch seine wesentlich kräftiger entwickelten Spiralkordeln. Ficula distans Deshayes, 1864 aus dem Tertiär von Frankreich ist ein jüngeres Homonym und ist mit der hier beschriebenen Art nicht verwandt. Von der Einführung eines neuen Namens für die französische Art wird hier Abstand genommen, da ihr Holotyp aus einem Steinkern besteht und kein weiteres Material bekannt ist (LeRenard, pers. Mitt. 2002).
