Nielsen (2003):
Bereits Covacevich & Frassinetti (1980) bemerkten, dass auch das angeblich von Navidad stammende Exemplar Philippi's (SGO.PI.854) vermutlich von Sta. Cruz, Patagonien, stammt, von wo er weiteres Material (SGO.PI.722, 4553) hatte, welches in der Erhaltung ähnlich ist. Von Navidad sind keine weiteren Exemplare bekannt geworden. In Südchile sind Vorkommen mit atlantischem Einfluss bekannt; so wurde Ficus carolina von Frassinetti & Covacevich (1999) aus der Nähe von Chile Chico bekannt gemacht.
