Gehäuse fusiform, 10-15 kräftige Knoten pro Windung, darunter zwei Spiralkordeln. Feine Spiralbänder auf gesamter Windung. Analsinus tief, spitz, mit Scheitelpunkt auf Knotenreihe. Apertur mandelförmig, Siphonalkanal gerade.

Nielsen (2003):
Das Gehäuse ist turmförmig-fusiform. Der Protoconch ist unbekannt. Die Skulptur besteht aus kräftigen Knoten an der Peripherie, etwa 10-15 pro Windung, und zwei darunter liegenden sehr deutlichen Spiralkordeln. Feine Spiralbänder befinden sich auf der gesamten Windung. Die Anwachsstreifung deutet auf einen deutlichen, spitzen Analsinus hin, der seinen Scheitelpunkt genau auf der Knotenreihe hat. Die Apertur ist mandelförmig und der Siphonalkanal gerade. Obwohl Philippi (1887) die Abbildungen von Sowerby (1846) reproduzierte, war sein Material von einer unterschiedlichen Art. Tavera (1979) wies bereits auf Unterschiede zwischen Philippi's und Sowerby's Material hin, was von Frassinetti (2000) bestätigt wurde. Ptychosyrinx pseudosubaequalis unterscheidet sich von P. subaequalis durch zahlreichere und deutlicher abgesetzte Knoten. Vermutlich handelt es sich bei Ptychosyrinx pseudosubaequalis um einen direkten Vorläufer von P. subaequalis.
