Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
TYPE MATERIAL. Two syntypes: NHM-G26357; NHM-G26358 (Navidad). REMARKS. Turritella ambulacrum Sowerby, 1846 had been originally described from Patagonia and is different from T. suturalis, coming from Navidad. Turritella suturalis is a several times preoccupied name and was therefore renamed as T. pseudosuturalis by d’Orbigny (1852). Philippi (1887) subsequently introduced the replacement name T. sowerbyana, apparently not being aware of the name of d’Orbigny. Turritella pseudosuturalis is considered not to belong in Incatella DeVries, 2007 (DeVries, personal communication 2006).
