Species Crepidula gregaria Sowerby 1846

Discussion / Comments:
Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
TYPE MATERIAL. The figured specimen, NHM-L27699 includes six stacked syntypes. In addition, three formerly stacked specimens are syntypes NHM-L27700. The figured specimens are much less complete than in Sowerby’s (1846, pl. 3, fig. 34) original illustration. REMARKS. Sowerby used the name gregarea in the text but gregaria in his figure. Hoagland (1977, p. 379) selected gregaria as the correct spelling for the name. This species may be different to the one from Navidad referred to by Philippi (1887, p. 88, pl. 12, fig. 1).
