Species Anomia alternans Sowerby 1846

Discussion / Comments:
Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
TYPE MATERIAL. Holotype: NHM-L27962 REMARKS. The holotype is an upper (free) valve of a species of Pododesmus (Monia), in which the muscle scars (i.e., the internal aragonitic layer) are lost but the exterior sculpture is well preserved. According to Philippi (1887, p. 209), this species occurs also at Caldera, in northern Chile, and Herm (1969, p. 110) mentioned it also from Chañaral de Azeitunas and La Serena.
