Species Venus coquandi Hupé 1854

Discussion / Comments:
Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
TYPE MATERIAL. The holotype is housed in the Typothèque of the Laboratoire de Géologie under number MNHN-Gg2002/81. REMARKS. Philippi (1887, p. 109) placed this species in Artemis based on the fact that the anterior end is shorter and narrower than the posterior end. The holotype is a closed shell in which the hinge and interior are not visible, but the shell ornamentation is very similar that of Ameghinomya Ihering, 1907 [type species Chione argentina Ihering, 1897].
