Species Venus pulvinata Hupé 1854

Discussion / Comments:
Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
TYPE MATERIAL. There are three syntypes in the Typothèque of the Laboratoire de Géologie under number MNHN-Gg2002/100. REMARKS. Philipi (1887, p. 125) stated that he had specimens collected by himself at Coquimbo and that appeared to belong in Hupé’s species. He did not, however, illustrate or describe them. Herm (1969, p. 121; see entry under petitiana d’Orbigny, 1842 [Venus] herein) correctly synonymized this species with Chionopsis petitiana (d’Orbigny, 1842).
Synonym list:
Griffin & Nielsen (2008):
1854 Venus pulvinata Hupé. - Hupé : p.343
1887 Venus pulvinata Hupé. - Philippi : p.125 pl. 16; fig. 4
2008 Chionopsis petitiana d'Orbigny. - Griffin & Nielsen : pl. 14; fig. 5-7
