Subspecies Globorotalia tumida tumida Brady 1877

Alternative name:
Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
Compared with its ancestral forms G. merotumida and G. plesiotumida, G. tumida tumida is still more biconvexly tumid, and its wall and peripheral keel more robust. In equatorial view the taxon is also more elongate. All these features as well as test size are subject to considerable variability probably caused by changing environmental conditions. For further discussions of G. tumida tumida, including its use as an index form, see under G. merotumida
