Discussion / Comments: |
Toumarkine & Luterbacher (1985):
Typical representatives of M. velascoensis are close to their predecessor M. conicotruncata to which they are linked by a series of transitional forms. Characteristic for the species are the raised and beaded intercameral sutures on the spiral side and the heavy spines on the periphery which fuse to form a heavy 'keel' (muricocarina). Such spines are also present on the umbilical chmaber tips.
