Species Biglobigerinella barri Bolli et al. 1957

Discussion / Comments:
Boudagher-Fadel et al. (1997):
Remarks: This species has eight to ten globular chambers in the last whorl; often, but not always, with biserial final chambers. The wall is macroperforate and the surfaces of the earliest chambers of the last whorl are muricate. Biglobigerinella with biserial final chambers occurred randomly in the Late Cretaceous; however, it is not cosmopolitan. The Late Cretaceous species probably evolved from planispiral, uniserial forms of Planohedbergella gen.nov. (Appendix 1); their ancestry is unknown, and they were probably unrelated to 'B'. barri (which we believed to have evolved from Aptian Alanlordella), hence the informal use of the genus in this case.
