Species Praeglobotruncana delrioensis Plummer 1931


Discussion / Comments:
Caron (1985):
This species is the oldest representative of the genus Praeglobotruncana, evolving from Hedbergella delrioensis by acquisition of numerous pustules along the periphery, at least on early chambers of the last whorl. It differs from P. stephani in its lower trochospire and acute pustulose equatorial ridge.
Pflaumann & Krasheninnikov (1977):
According to Loeblich and Tappan (1961, p. 282), the species differs from the similar Praeglobotruncana stephani by its nearly biconvex shape and rounded chambers, while P. stephani is planoconvex and has angular to rhomboidal chambers. Additional P. stephani has somewhat larger sizes. The species is known from late Albian and Cenomanian of Southern USA, Trinidad, Switzerland, and Bavaria.
