Diagnosis / Definition: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test medium, lenticular, low trochospiral, equatorial periphery lobulate, axial periphery acute with a pronounced keel;
chambers six to eight in the final whorl, slowly increasing in size as added; chambers on umbilical side more highly vaulted and inflated than those of spiral side; sutures on
spiral side recurved, limbate, thickened where merging into keel; on umbilical side sinuous to radial, depressed; surface smooth, uniformly and densely perforate; umbilicus a narrow pit; aperture a low arch bordered by a lip. |
Discussion / Comments: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Gr. (M.) limbata is distinguished from its ancestral form Gr. (M.) menardii by the uniformly increasing chambers in the
final whorl and by spiral sutures, which are nearly straight for most of their length but become sharply curved near the periphery, giving a hockey-stick shape |
