Diagnosis / Definition: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test very low trochospiral, strongly compressed, equatorial periphery subcircular, lobate, axial periphery acute, with a pronounced keel; chambers strongly compressed,
six to eight in the final whorl, increasing slowly in size as added; sutures on umbilical side curved, limbate, merging into keel, on umbilical side radial, depressed; surface
smooth, very finely and densely perforate;
umbilicus shallow; aperture umbilical-extraumbilical, a low arch with flaring apertural lip in the form of a thin plate extending over the umbilical area. |
Discussion / Comments: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
This species is distinguished from Gr. (M.) exilis and Gr. (M.) miocenica by its larger size, thin, delicate lenslike test, more lobulate periphery, and flaring apertural lip,
which extends onto the umbilical area. |
