Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test low trochospiral, compact, equatorial periphery broadly ovate to slightly trilobulate; three subglobular chambers in
the final whorl; sutures obscured by heavy cortex; surface coarsely perforate, covered by secondary layer of shell material (cortex) reducing the pore openings and providing a
smooth, polished, and glossy appearance to the test . Umbilicus open;
aperture an elongate umbilical opening bordered by thickened crenulate margin. |
Srinivasan (1975):
This form is characterized by having only three
chambers in the final whorl, a distinctly lobate equatorial
outline, and a low umbilical aperture.
Sphaeroidinella rutschi (figured by Bolli, 1957, pl. 26,
figs. 6-7) is considered to be a junior synonym of S. seminulina seminulina (Schwager). |
