Diagnosis / Definition: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test compact, low to medium-high trochospiral, equatorial periphery lobulate, chambers spherical to subspherical, four

umbilical, large semicircular, bordered by a rim. |
Discussion / Comments: |
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Gg. (Zg.) decoraperta is distinguished from Gg. (Zg.) woodi by its higher-spired test and from Gg. (Zg.) rubescens
mainly by its larger test, slightly smaller aperture, and less coarsely cancellate surface.
Gg. (Zg.) decoraperta appears to have evolved from Gg. (Zg.) woodi during the early Middle Miocene (Orbulina suturalis
Zone) in cool subtropical waters and may have given rise to Gg. (Zg.) rubescens during the Middle Pliocene. |
