Species Pulleniatina finalis Banner & Blow 1967

Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
The species differs from P. obliquiloculata in having an almost wholly involute spiral side that gives the test a virtually planispiral appearance with a very broadly rounded periphery. The final aperture is described as a high arch, entirely extraumbilical in position, compared with a very low interiomarginal umbilical extraumbilical arch extending to the periphery in P. obliquiloculata. For the record it may be noted that the axial view of the holotype figure of P. obliquiloculata (Parker & Jones, 1865) displays a broadly rounded periphery and an aperture that in shape and position closely matches that of P.finalis. The original illustration has not been refigured in this volume.
