Species Globorotalia pseudomiocenica Bolli & Bermudez 1965

Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
The species appears to have evolved from G. menardii 'A' by the acquisition of a more convex umbilical side and by the spiral side becoming more flattened or even nearly planar. G. pseudomiocenica, like G. miocenica, is more delicately built and has a more delicate keel than Globorotalia menardii 'A'. In equatorial view the periphery remains more lobate compared with that in typical G. miocenica. G. pseudomiocenica may be regarded as the link between G. menardii 'A' and G. miocenica. Consequently it displays considerable variability.
Chaisson & Leckie (1993):
Similar species: Globorotalia pseudomiocenica is more highly vaulted on the umbilical side than are G. menardii s.l. and G. limbata, and it is more circular and less lobate in outline than the latter two taxa. It is slightly larger and has more chambers than G. merotumida.
