Subspecies Neogloboquadrina dutertrei tegillata Brönnimann & Resig 1971

Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
Number of chambers in the last whorl and overall test size of the holotype of Neogloboquadrina tegillata closely compares with larger sized specimens of Globorotalia acostaensis. It differs from that species in possessing an umbilical flap extending from the last chamber to cover part of the umbilical area. Such flaps are frequently present in N. dutertrei and there form a criterion for its generic assignment. Brönnimann & Resig's taxon is therefore also placed in this genus. It shows that such umbilical flaps may occur in the lineage as early as the Late Miocene.
