Bolli & Saunders (1985):
Globorotalia menardii 'B' was introduced by Bolli (1970) as a form intermediate between G. menardii 'A' and G. multi camerata. G. menardii 'B' first appears in the G. acostaensis Zone, probably as the ancestral form of G. multicamerata, which first occurs in the lower part of the Globorotalia margaritae Zone. It differs from G. menardii 'A' in the higher number of chambers forming the last whorl, 7-7 ½ against 5-6. As a result, specimens are usually also slightly larger in diameter and display somewhat thicker peripheral keels and intercameral sutures. |
