Bolli & Saunders (1985):
According to W% author the subspecies is intermediate between the thin walled G. crassaformis oceanica and G. truncatulinoides truncatulinoides. The holotype which is a phylogenetically primitive form of the taxon differs from oceanica in its much less inflated and slightly more embracing chambers and in a greater degree of planoconvexity of the test. The paratype figured by Blow (1969, pl. 4, figs. 16-17) is according to him a more advanced form with 'a clear area over the dorsal peripheral margin' which, however, contains normal wall pores and is therefore not yet an imperforate keel as is typical in G. truncatulinoides truncatulinoides. Both, the holo and paratype of tenuitheca are only half the size of the succeeding form; that is 0.39 mm against 0.78 mm for the neotype of G. truncatulinoides truncatulinoides. |
