Subspecies Globorotalia fohsi lobata Bermudez 1949

Alternative name:
Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
This subspecies is a further development of praefohsi, manifested in a larger average test size and strongly elongate last 2-3 chambers forming a still more strongly lobate cockscomb like equatorial periphery. As in praefohsi the peripheral keel is often only delicately developed and may not readily be visible in the early chambers of the last whorl. The wall of the cockscomb like peripheral portion, particularly in the last chamber, is thin and is therefore often broken away.
Srinivasan (1975):
lntermediate forms linking Globorotalia fohsi lobara to its ancestral form, G. fohsi fohsi, and forms transitional to its descendant, G. fohsi robusta, were found in the examined area.
