Species Hastigerina aequilateralis Brady 1879

Discussion / Comments:
Bolli & Saunders (1985):
This species differs from the lectotype of H. siphonifera in the more open coiling mode, with the last or last few chambers often slightly detached from those of the earlier whorl. Because of this, the low trochospiral chamber arrangement of the initial chambers is usually readily recognizable. The plane in which the chambers of the low trochospiral early stage are arranged is often at an angle to that of the later chambers, resulting in a slightly streptospiral coiling mode.
Bolli (1957):
Scarce specimens of Hastigerina are found in the Lengua formation. They are slightly more involute than Brady's types and are therefore listed as H. cf. aequilateralis.
