Species Rugoglobigerina rugosa Plummer 1926

Discussion / Comments:
Caron (1985):
It is likely that R. rugosa gave rise to R. macrocephala in the Gansserina gansseri Zone. It differs from R. macrocephala in having 5 instead of 4 chambers in the last whorl surrounding a deep umbilicus.
Van Eijden & Smit (1991):
Remarks. This species is widespread but rarely common in the Maestrichtian. Intermediate forms with Archaeoglobigerina blowi Pessagno, 1967 and R. pennyi Brönnimann, 1952a occur commonly.
