Jenkins (1985):
G. brevis most closely resembles G. tapuriensis Blow & Banner from the Early Oligocene of East Africa (in Eames et al., 1962), but differs from it in having a smaller test (0.44 mm), a more coarsely ornamented and non hispid wall and more deeply incised umbilical sutures. Within its range G. brevis can be accompanied by G. euapertura, which has a low arched aperture and by G. ampliapertura with its arched oblong shaped aperture. From both it is easily distinguished in test and apertural characteristics.
Quilty (1976):
The only reason for the slightly tentative identification of
this species is the variation in aperture size between Jenkins' figures which have a moderately large aperture and the specimen figured here which has a more restricted aperture. |
