Discussion / Comments: |
Jenkins (1985):
G. miotumida has 4 1/2 -5 chambers in the final whorl and is thin walled with a keeled periphery. In New Zealand the species appears to be restricted to the Middle and Late Miocene as in southeastern Australia, but at DSDP Leg 29 Site 284 in 'the Tasman Sea it ranges into the Early Pliocene. On Leg 40 Site 360, G. miotumida has the same range as in New Zealand but at the more northern Site 362 ranges again into the Early Pliocene (Jenkins, 1975, 1978c). |
