Alternative name: | ||||||
Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983): Test low trochospiral, equatorial periphery slightly lobulate. In axial profile, the periphery of the earlier chambers of the last whorl is broadly rounded but becomes progressively more compressed as the final chamber is approached, so that the last three chambers in the final whorl have acute peripheral margin; chambers compressed, six to seven in the final whorl, increasing slowly in size; sutures on spiral side strongly recurved, gently depressed; on umbilical side strongly curved to radial; surface uniformly perforate; umbilicus narrow, aperture interiomarginal, extraumbilical-umbilical, a low arch bordered by a prominent lip. |
Discussion / Comments:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983): This species mainly differs from its ancestor Gr. (F.) peripheroronda by having an acutely compressed periphery in the later chambers of the final whorl. |
