Species Cassigerinella martinezpicoi Bermudez & Seiglie 1967



Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test very small, chambers initially planispirally coiled, later biserially coiled; periphery subacute; usually five chambers in final whorl; chambers enlarging fairly rapidly as added; earlier chambers subovate; late chambers becoming very compressed and subellipsoidal in outline; one side of each chamber nearly flat; opposite side more dis- tinctly inflated; sutures finely perforated. Aperture a curved, elongate slit bordered with an apertural flange having a somewhat serrate margin.
Discussion / Comments:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Cg. martinezpicoi was originally described within a monotypic genus Riveroinella by Bermudez and Seiglie (1967). This species was later discovered to be a Cassigerinella by Saito and Biscaye (1977).
