Alternative name: | ||||||
Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983): Test high trochospiral, four chambers in the final whorl; chambers subglobular, increasing uniformly in size as added; sutures on both sides depressed, radial to gently curved; surface with scattered large spine bases, umbilicus small; aperture an almost closed, elongate slit with a thin lip. |
Discussion / Comments:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983): Gg. (Gg.) eamesi is distinct because of the large spine bases, which are particularly prominent on the final chamber, and the nearly closed umbilical aperture. It probably evolved from Gg. (Gg.) praebtilloides during the late Oligocene. |
