Species Globorotalia (Globoconella) incognita Walters 1965

Alternative name:
Globorotalia incognita Walters 1965
Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test small, a low trochospire, tightly coiled, equatorial periphery quadrilobate, axial periphery rounded, chambers inflated four to four and a half in the final whorl, increasing rapidly in size as added; sutures on the spiral side gently curved, depressed, on umbilical side radial and depressed; surface cancellate with subhexagonal pits; aperture interiomarginal, extraumbilical-umbilical, fairly high arch bordered by a thick rim, extending farther up into the apertural face .
Discussion / Comments:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Gr. (G.) incognita differs from its ancestor "Gr."nana in having a higher arched aperture. It is distinguished from its descendant Gr. (G.) zealandica by its smaller size, more strongly curved spiral sutures, and much less inflated umbilical side. Gr. (G.) incognita differs from Neogloboquadrina continuosa in exhibiting a more rapid increase in chamber size, in being more compact, and in having a higher arched aperture extending farther up onto the apertural face. Globorotalia nana pseudocontinuosa Jenkins is a junior synonym.
