Discussion / Comments: | ||||||
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983): Gr. (G.) sphericomiozea is distin- guished from its ancestor Gr. (G.) conomiozea by its small, tightly coiled test, by having four rather than four and one-half chambers in the final whorl, and by rapid loss of the keel during its Stratigraphic range. In the earliest Pliocene, Gr. (G.) sphericomiozea evolved into Gr. (G.) puncticulata by further increases in the inflation of the chambers in the final whorl and rounding of the periphery and by a size increase. |
