Species Globorotalia bykovae Aisenstat 1960

Discussion / Comments:
Rögl (1985):
G. bykovae is similar to G. peripheroronda but differs in usually being smaller (0.2-0.36 mm) and in having chambers arranged in a slightly imbricated mode resulting in an undulating test surface. The umbilical side is fairly high with a small cavity which is still less developed in G. peripheroronda, where in comparison the peripheral angle is higher and more prominent. The species is small in the Early Badenian, becoming larger in the Late Badenian (Early Kosovian) of the Central Paratethys. A subspecific distinction on size does not seem to be justified.
