Discussion / Comments: | ||||||
Bolli & Saunders (1985): Compared with 4-chambered G. acostaensis the test of G. pseudopima is distinctly larger and the wall more robust and with coarser pores. The umbilicus is nearly closed in typical specimens. Forms transitional towards N. dutertrei display a more open umbilicus and a tendency for the apertures of the last chamber to become more umbilical. Except for their distinctly different stratigraphic ranges and different accompanying fauna, G. pseudopima and the Oligocene G. opima opima are difficult to distinguish from each other. Both possess usually 4, more rarely 4 1/2-5 robust and inflated chambers in the last whorl, with about equally sized and spaced pores. For comparison with G. opima opima see Figs. 26.24-30. |
