Species Globigerinella pseudobesa Salvatorini 1966

Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test low trochospiral, equatorial periphery strongly lobulate, axial periphery broadly rounded; chambers spherical to subspherical; four rapidly enlarging cham- bers in the final whorl; spiral sutures radial, depressed; umbilical sutures slightly curved to nearly radial; surface densely perforated with circular to subcircular pores and elevated circular spine bases. Umbilicus wide and deep; aperture interiomarginal, umbilical-extraumbilical, a rather medium-wide arch extending to the spiral side of the test, without a lip or rim.
Discussion / Comments:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Ge. pseudobesa shows a wide range of variation in apertural position from extraumbilical to nearly umbilical as in Glo- bigerina. The aperture commonly extends onto the spiral side of the test. Ge. pseudobesa closely resembles Ge. obesa but differs in the highly variable apertural position.
