Species Archaeoglobigerina cretacea d'Orbigny 1840
Discussion / Comments:
Caron (1985): The species differs from A. blowi in having 6 instead of 4 chambers in the last whorl. The rounded periphery is marked not only by an imperforate band, but also by two faint keels, which may be absent on the last chamber. Van Eijden & Smit (1991): Remarks. Higher trochospiral forms, which are intermediate between this species and A. australis, are common. In the Maestrichtian, intermediate forms with Rugoglobigerina hexacamerata Brönnimann, 1952a also occur. The species is most common in Campanian samples. |
