Subspecies Globigerina woodi connecta Jenkins 1964

Discussion / Comments:
Jenkins (1985):
G. woodi connecta is distinguished from its immediate ancestor G. woodi woodi in possessing a lower aperture and a smaller test and from its descendant Globigerinoides trilobus in not having an aperture on the spiral side. The close relationship of the three taxa is confirmed by their similar wall structure (Jenkins, 1978c). This robust zonal species has a short range in the Late Oligocene Early Miocene of southeastern Australia, New Zealand, DSDP Leg 29 Site 279, and Leg 40 Sites 360 and 362 (Jenkins, 1960, 1971, 1975, 1978c).
