Diagnosis / Definition:
Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Test low trochospiral, equatorial periphery subquadrate; axial periphery broadly rounded, chambers subquadrate to oval, four to four and one-half in the final whorl, increasing rapidly in size as added; sutures curved, gently depressed; surface with larger, densely spaced pores imparting a coarser cancellate texture to the surface; aperture large, high arched bordered by a rim, interiomarginal, umbilical-extraumbilical.

Kennett & Srinivasan (1983):
Gr. (J.) acrostoma closely resembles Gr. (J.) mayeribut is easily distinguished by its four to four and one-half chambers in the final whorl and larger and higher-arched aperture.
