Boudagher-Fadel et al. (1997):
Remarks: B. praetrocoidea has six to seven slightly depressed chambers visible dorsally in the last whorl, but only six abutting the umbilicus. The aperture extends fully to the periphery of the penultimate whorl, and possesses a broad portical lip. The umbilicus is only slightly broad (u/uh = 0.4 approx .) . This microperforate, non-muficate species seems to be the ancestral form of the macroperforate, muricate Hedbergella (BouDagher-Fade1 et al., 1997a). Through the courtesy of Dr T. Gorbachik we have been able to SEM paratypes of this species from the Early Aptian of the Kacha River, SW Crimea (Plate 8, 9, Figs 4-12).
