Species Globigerina angiporoides Hornibrook 1965

Jenkins (1985):
G. angiporoides differs from G. linaperta in having spherical chambers, with the final one resembling a bulla with a very low arched aperture. G. minima Jenkins, which is regarded as the ancestral form of G. angiporoides, is smaller in size and has a smoother wall surface. G. angiporoides ranges in New Zealand from the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene and is common; its ancestor G. minima Jenkins which is smaller and has a smoother wall, ranges from Middle to Late Eocene. G. angiporoides was recorded at DSDP Leg 29 Sites 277, 278, 281 and 282 (Jenkins, 1975) and by Tournarkine (1978) from Leg 40 Site 360, all from the Late Eocene to Early Oligocene, but only in the Early Oligocene at Site 362A of Leg 40. In South Australia, G. angiporoides appears to have a similar stratigraphic range (Lindsay, 1969).

Remarks. Typical specimens are rare and many are intermediate with G. linaperta Finlay, 1939a. The species is most common at Sites 756 and 757.
