Discussion / Comments: | ||||||
Huber (1990): Compressed forms with apertures bordered by imperforate flanges and bearing faint, discontinuous costae and sometimes thin keels on the early chambers are included in this species. Van Eijden & Smit (1991): Remarks. Intermediate forms with H. globulosa (Ehrenberg, 1840), which has more globular chambers, and H. rajagopalani (Govindan, 1972), which is ornamented, are common. It typically dominates the 125-250-ìm fraction of the pre-Maestrichtian samples. Although the species has a conspicuous first appearance within the Campanian at Site 754, it is known to range from the lowermost Campanian to the Maestrichtian. |
